The Wanneroo Business Association (WBA) came about after the formation of the new City of Wanneroo (COW) in the late 1990s when a group of business people realised an association was needed to look after the interests of the new local authority.
The new association drew on a long history of the previous Wanneroo Chamber of Commerce formed back in the early 1970s.
The steering committee charged with establishing a new representative body chose the "Business Association" model over other models including a chamber of commerce because it was felt that a business association better reflected the local business community and made a fresh start distancing itself from the past.
The WBA is a not for profit organization guided by a volunteer Board of Directors drawn from many different business backgrounds and companies offering vast experience in all aspects of business.
The WBA is a powerful advocate for the needs of business and regularly tackles head on the issues which inhibit the expansion of business within the COW.
This has ranged from issues of infrastructure including telephone, broad band and power supplies as well working collaboratively with the COW on a regular basis on numerous issues directly affecting business.
The WBA is now recognised as the premier business association representing business within the COW and a mature respected relationship exists between the WBA and the COW.
The WBA is continually approached for views on matters affecting the business community in the COW by local, state and federal authorities.
Over the past four years the Satterley Property Group City of Wanneroo Business Awards have been held with high participation and prestige for award category winners.
WBA Divisions have been formed in the Coastal Region covering Mindarie, Clarkson, Brighton and Butler as well as the Northern Region covering Yanchep and Two Rocks and a Tourism Division covering the tourism sector.
A Neerabup Division will be formed shortly.
The WBA has an office at Enterprise House 935 Wanneroo Road, Wanneroo staffed by a Executive Officer and a part time Executive Assistant.
